There was a time you left your home to wander,
Away from all the people you had come to love.
You hoped to find a world to fit your dreaming,
A life to be worth living, a time of laughter and forgiving

You would have known if you were not so young then,
How broken dreams end in basements when promises are gone.
And then your gone but still no more the wiser,
No one there to save you, you spent the gifts that nature gave you.

Chorus:
And I’ll meet you in the morning rain,
I’ll meet you in the morning rain.
Tears of heaven gonna wash your soul
When I meet you in the morning rain.

Big city lights can’t keep away the darkness
They just build walls so the sunshine can never find your eyes.
From dusk ‘till dawn the perfumed night surrounds you..
Silk and sin will blind you, the one you love can never find you.

There comes a time when all of us remember,
How far we’ve come and how far we thought we’d have to go.
Don’t wait and let your life slip through your fingers,
Ignore the painted lady, become again a newborn baby.

Chorus:
And I’ll meet you in the morning rain,
I’ll meet you in the morning rain.
Tears of heaven gonna wash your soul
When I meet you in the morning rain.
